Basketball 101 Camps Being Offered This Summer

Basketball PEI is pleased to announce its recent partnership with the highly successful Basketball 101 Development School to offer two weeks of basketball camps during the 2017 summer season. These camps will provide an excellent opportunity for athletes to improve their basketball fundamentals, while also serving as a fundraiser for Basketball PEI.

The first week of camp will be held July 17-21 in Charlottetown at Immanuel Christian School. This camp will be for boys and girls entering grades 4 to 6. The camp will utilize basketball nets at heights appropriate to this age group, as well as age appropriate basketballs. There are full and half day options for this camp.

The second week will be held at Charlottetown Rural High School the week of August 28 to September 1 and will be open to boys and girls entering grades 7 to 12.

Both camps will run from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

Guest coaches include Dale Farish, long-time coach at all levels on PEI; Darrell Glenn, former UPEI Panther and the newly named Head Coach of the UPEI Men; and Lonnie States, Nova Scotia and PEI coach for many years. Additional coaches will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Help needed – Stratford Jamboree – Saturday, February 18

SMBA Parents,

Planning is underway for the 13th Annual SMBA Jamboree that is being held on February 18th at Glen Stewart and Stratford Elementary. The jamboree will include Small Ball, Jr. Mini, and Mini (house) teams.

As you can imagine, events like these do not happen without the support of volunteers.

The SMBA Executive is looking for an individual (or two) that would be interested in serving as the canteen coordinator(s) for the jamboree. The main responsibilities would be to be at school(s) on Friday evening prior to the jamboree to accept food deliveries and to manage the volunteer schedule and operation on jamboree day itself. There will be another email sent out to seek volunteers and for food donations closer to the date but would like to secure a coordinator or two prior to this.

If you may be interested in helping, please contact Doug Newson at
