Basketball 101 Camps Being Offered This Summer (2018)

Basketball PEI is pleased to announce its renewed partnership with the highly successful Basketball 101 Development School to offer three weeks of basketball camps during the 2018 summer season. These camps will provide an excellent opportunity for athletes to improve their basketball fundamentals, while also serving as a fundraiser for Basketball PEI, UPEI, and Holland College.

Basketball 101 Development Schools is co-owned by George and Scott Morrison. The elder Morrison has coached at the university and college level for 30 years and has operated basketball camps for both UPEI and the Basketball 101 Development School over this same period. Scott is an assistant coach with the NBA Boston Celtics organization and has been the Head Coach of the Maine Red Claws, The Celtic’s NBA D-League affiliate for the past three seasons. Prior to that, he had a very successful 11-year career as the Head Coach of the Lakehead University men’s basketball program. Scott has also been an assistant coach with Canada Basketball’s national teams for the past four summers, most recently with the senior men’s program. Scott also played five seasons with the UPEI Panthers.

The first week of camp will be held July 23-27 at Immanuel Christian School. This camp will be for boys and girls entering grades 4 to 6. The camp will utilize basketball nets at heights appropriate to this age group, as well as age-appropriate basketballs.

The second week will be held at Summerside Intermediate School the week of August 13-17. This camp is for boys and girls entering grades 4 to 10.

The third week will be held at the UPEI fieldhouse the week of August 20-24 and will be open to boys and girls entering grades 7 to 12.

Camps will run from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. The July camp will feature both half and full day options.
